Ingredients

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 large egg (or 1 tbsp ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tbsp water for vegan option)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans until mostly smooth but still chunky.
  2. Stir in diced onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Mix in breadcrumbs and egg (or flax egg) until the mixture holds together.
  4. Form the mixture into patties about 1 inch thick.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Serve with your favorite toppings like avocado or salsa.
