- 12 large pasta shells
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and cool under cold water.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, half the mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Fill each shell with the cheese mixture using a spoon or piping bag.
- Spread half of the marinara sauce in the baking dish. Arrange the filled shells upright in the dish.
- Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the shells and top with leftover mozzarella and olive oil.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For added nutrition, consider mixing in spinach or other vegetables into your filling.
- You can substitute ricotta with cottage cheese for a lighter option.
