- 8 oz spaghetti
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 oz tomato sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Fresh basil (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Form golf-ball-sized meatballs from the mixture and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides (about 5 minutes) and transfer to a plate.
- In the same skillet, pour in the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer.
- Boil salted water in another pot and cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve some pasta water.
- Return the browned meatballs to the skillet with sauce and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Plate spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce; garnish with fresh basil.
Notes
- For added flavor, try swapping breadcrumbs for crushed crackers or adding red pepper flakes for heat.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days; reheat gently on low heat.
