Description

Spaghetti and meatballs is a timeless Italian dish that brings comfort and joy to any meal. This easy recipe features tender meatballs in a rich tomato sauce served over perfectly cooked spaghetti.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Fresh basil (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form golf-ball-sized meatballs from the mixture and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides (about 5 minutes) and transfer to a plate.
  4. In the same skillet, pour in the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer.
  5. Boil salted water in another pot and cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve some pasta water.
  6. Return the browned meatballs to the skillet with sauce and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Plate spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce; garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try swapping breadcrumbs for crushed crackers or adding red pepper flakes for heat.
  •  Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days; reheat gently on low heat.
