- 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20 fat content)
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 1 green bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tbsp olive oil. Sauté the onions and green bell pepper until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Increase heat slightly and add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned throughout, approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and brown sugar. Allow to simmer for about 3 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns and serve immediately.
