Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20 fat content)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tbsp olive oil. Sauté the onions and green bell pepper until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Increase heat slightly and add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned throughout, approximately 8-10 minutes.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and brown sugar. Allow to simmer for about 3 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns and serve immediately.
