Description
Succulent, savory, and oh-so-delicious, this French dip sandwich brings together tender beef and rich broth for a mouthwatering experience that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs beef roast (chuck or brisket)
- 4 crusty bread rolls
- 8 oz provolone cheese
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Season the beef roast with salt and pepper. Place it in a roasting pan and roast for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté sliced onions with chopped herbs until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
- Remove the beef from the oven, let it rest, then slice thinly against the grain. Pour off excess fat from the roasting pan and deglaze with beef broth over medium heat.
- Assemble sandwiches by layering sliced beef, sautéed onions, and cheese on crusty rolls. Broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Serve sandwiches with warm au jus for dipping.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or varying the type of cheese used.
- Ensure you slice the beef against the grain for optimal tenderness.
