- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 4 tbsp melted butter (plus more for brushing)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir gently until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- Gradually add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thick. Cut into strips approximately 1 inch wide.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the strips on a greased baking sheet and bake for around 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush the hot breadsticks generously with melted butter mixed with garlic powder immediately after baking.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add herbs like oregano or basil to the dough.
- Swap out parmesan for mozzarella if you prefer gooey cheese.
