Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- ½ cup pure honey
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center; add yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and honey. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If sticky, add more flour as needed.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into small balls (about 1 inch wide). Place in a greased baking dish close together.
- Cover again and let rise until puffy (approximately 30 minutes). Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Whisk powdered sugar with honey and milk to create the glaze; drizzle over warm buns before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider incorporating nuts or chocolate chips into the dough.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days; reheat in the microwave for freshness.
