Description

General Tso’s Chicken is a flavorful dish featuring crispy chicken tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce, making it a favorite for family dinners or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp chili paste (adjust for spice preference)
  • 2 tbsp peanut or vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, mix cornstarch with soy sauce until smooth. Add garlic and ginger; coat the chicken well.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, chili paste, and broth. Pour over cooked chicken.
  5. Simmer on low heat for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving hot over rice or noodles.
