- 4 firm apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Wash the apples, slice off the tops, and carefully core them while leaving enough flesh intact.
- In a bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts (if using), melted butter, and vanilla until well mixed.
- Stuff each apple generously with the filling and place them upright in the baking dish. Pour half an inch of water into the dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until apples are tender but not mushy. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter twist, substitute brown sugar with honey.
- Add raisins or cranberries to the filling for extra flavor.
