Description

Baked apples are a warm, comforting dessert filled with sweet spices and tender fruit, perfect for cozy gatherings or simple weeknight indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 firm apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Wash the apples, slice off the tops, and carefully core them while leaving enough flesh intact.
  3. In a bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nuts (if using), melted butter, and vanilla until well mixed.
  4. Stuff each apple generously with the filling and place them upright in the baking dish. Pour half an inch of water into the dish.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until apples are tender but not mushy. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter twist, substitute brown sugar with honey.
  •  Add raisins or cranberries to the filling for extra flavor.
