Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown half of the meatballs for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown; set aside.
- In the same skillet, add beef broth, soy sauce, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and scrape up any browned bits from the pan.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for another 10-15 minutes until cooked through and coated in gravy.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Notes
- For added flavor, use freshly chopped herbs like parsley or thyme.
- You can swap ground turkey or chicken for a leaner alternative.
- Don’t skip browning the meatballs; it adds depth to the flavor.
