Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla; gently mix until combined.
- Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- For the coconut frosting, mix coconut flakes with softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy; add nuts if desired.
- Assemble by layering cakes with frosting in between and on top.
