Description

Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna is a delightful dish that features crunchy rice squares topped with creamy, zesty tuna. Perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sushi-grade tuna, diced
  • 2 cups day-old cooked rice (preferably short-grain)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (preferably Kewpie)
  • 12 tbsp sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook rice according to package instructions and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Press cooled rice firmly into small squares or rectangles on parchment paper, about 1-inch thick.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry each rice square until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. In a bowl, combine diced tuna, mayonnaise, sriracha, and green onions. Mix well.
  5. Place crispy rice squares on a platter and top generously with the spicy tuna mixture.
  6. Add avocado slices and sprinkle with additional green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Drizzle lightly with soy sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Use day-old rice for best results; freshly cooked rice can be too sticky.
  •  For variations, substitute spicy tuna with diced crab or tofu for a vegetarian option.
  •  Adjust sriracha according to your spice preference.
