Description
Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna is a delightful dish that features crunchy rice squares topped with creamy, zesty tuna. Perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a cozy night in.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup sushi-grade tuna, diced
- 2 cups day-old cooked rice (preferably short-grain)
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise (preferably Kewpie)
- 1–2 tbsp sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 ripe avocado, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cook rice according to package instructions and allow it to cool completely.
- Press cooled rice firmly into small squares or rectangles on parchment paper, about 1-inch thick.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry each rice square until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- In a bowl, combine diced tuna, mayonnaise, sriracha, and green onions. Mix well.
- Place crispy rice squares on a platter and top generously with the spicy tuna mixture.
- Add avocado slices and sprinkle with additional green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Drizzle lightly with soy sauce before serving.
Notes
- Use day-old rice for best results; freshly cooked rice can be too sticky.
- For variations, substitute spicy tuna with diced crab or tofu for a vegetarian option.
- Adjust sriracha according to your spice preference.
