Description
Savor the taste of authentic Greek meatballs, infused with fresh herbs and spices, perfect for gatherings or a cozy family dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (medium-fat)
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or homemade)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 cup pine nuts (optional, toasted)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, parsley, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined to maintain tenderness.
- 2. If using pine nuts, toast them lightly in a dry skillet until golden brown before adding to the mixture.
- 3. Wet your hands slightly and form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake meatballs for about 20-25 minutes or until browned and cooked through. For added crispiness, you can also pan-fry them.
- 5. Allow the meatballs to rest briefly before serving with tzatziki sauce or alongside your favorite side dishes like rice or salad.
Notes
- Chill the meatball mixture for about 30 minutes before cooking to help them maintain their shape during baking.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
- Add crumbled feta cheese or chopped olives for extra Mediterranean flair.
