Description

Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful twist on two classic favorites, combining soft, fluffy rolls with sweet apples and warm cinnamon for a comforting treat anytime.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups tart apples, peeled and diced (e.g., Granny Smith)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk and yeast; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in another bowl. Add melted butter to the yeast mixture and stir into the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour.
  4. While the dough rises, toss diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon to prepare the filling.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick and spread softened butter over it. Evenly sprinkle the apple mixture on top.
  6. Roll the dough tightly from one long edge and slice into approximately 12 rolls. Place cut-side up in a greased baking dish and let them rise for an additional 15-30 minutes while preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before icing with a mixture of powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk.

Notes

  •  For added flavor, consider using caramelized pears instead of apples or adding chopped walnuts for crunch.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the fridge; reheat in the microwave for freshness.
